Safety and Security

Safety and security is a priority for the SSA #32. Customers can shop with confidence in our business district. A security patrol of 2 professional security officers employed by AGB Investigative Services are deployed at least 4 days a week to walk and drive the Business District. 

SSA#32 encourages business owners to adopt some or all of the following safety and security measures to make sure the shopping experience for all of the business customers is as pleasant as possible:

FIVE SAFETY AND SECURITY MEASURES:

#1 - LIGHTING.
       Business owners should make sure that their store and the
       areas connected to them are well lit. This includes
       entrances and exits, parking lots, windows, and sidewalk
       areas. The ability to see who and what is around you is
       one of the most basic and effective safety measures.

#2 - SECURITY DOORS, SHUTTERS, CAMERAS.
       Having the proper security doors and shutters will help
       increase the sense of safety and security and will give
       business owners confidence knowing that their office has
       effective security measures in place. Security Cameras
       are also an effective safety measure. Having a camera trained on your entrance,
       exits, and/or parking lots will provide the police with critical information regarding thefts.

#3 - PARTICIPATE IN CAPS.
       Establishing and nuturing partnerships with the local
       CAPS chapter will help local law enforcement understand
       who the business owners are and what security issues
       or concerns may be in order to come up with the most
       effective ways to combat them.

#4 - SUPPORT THE SSA#32 SECURITY PATROL.
       Many SSAs find it helpful to adopt a Security Patrol that will
       help reinforce the sense of security in the business district.
       Security Patrols have regularly scheduled runs in the
       business district, respond to business owner calls and
       concerns, and handle security issues with a set protocol.
       Security Patrol vehicles would have SSA specific decals
       to identify them in the community.

#5 - ADVERTISE SAFETY AND RULES ON CONDUCT.
       Never underestimate the power of "saying what you mean
       and meaning meaning what you say." Have safety and
       conduct rules posted clearly so that every customer knows
       what's accepted behavior in YOUR place of business. If you don't want
       people to loiter outside your door, or enter your business without shirts
       or shoes, - post it!

Above all, remember to contact your SSA Manager and let them know what's going on in your business district. Come to the open SSA Meetings and make your voice heard.
