ComEd Offers Bill Payment Help to Veterans and Active Military Personnel.As we celebrate Veterans Day ComEd is reminding customers, including Veterans and active military personal, of its financial assistance and bill payment programs available to customers who have fallen behind on payments and need help with their electric bill. More than one million of the $10 million in assistance ComEd dedicated this year is still available for distribution.

Greetings! Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) held its Annual Meeting and Neighborhood Leadership Awards program, "NHS @ 40: Deep Roots, Still Growing" on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Bridgeport ArtCenter.

The event was attended by over 300 partners, volunteers, community leaders and neighborhood residents.  The evening's program showcased nine Neighborhood Heroes and celebrated NHS' accomplishments.

Lyric Opera of Chicago to Perform at Simeon High

The 19th annual "Opera in the Neighborhoods" tour will be at Simeon, 8141 S. Vincennes Ave., on Oct. 28 for two performances of "The Brothers Grimm. Third through sixth grades at nearby Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., will walk down the street to attend the performance. Auburn Gresham GOLD school students going for the "GOLD", with the Arts, the past four years!

W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION GRANTS $1.9 MILLION TO EXPAND AUBURN GRESHAM GOLD

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) a $1 milion grant to strengthen it's K-3rd grade literacy and family economic development two-generation strategy, Auburn Gresham GOLD (AG GOLD), in several Chicago Auburn Gresham elementary schools. Passport To Auburn Gresham Trolley Tour Gets Stamp of Approval

An old-fashioned Trolley Tour of the Auburn Gresham area was offered, August 30th, as part of the Pillars of Auburn Gresham red carpet celebration held last month. Two separate reserved-filled red Trolley tours, originated at the Greater Auburn Gresham Development office, located at 7901 S. Racine. It was a great morning filled with discussions on real estate lending, available properties, reviatlization, and a bit of rich history. Residents were delighted to get a passport program, to collect stamps throughout the morning.

Storycatchers Theatre Presents Street Life Stories

In effort to turn their lives around, several young men and women joined Storycatchers Theatre, for a 16-week program to create a play, "Struggling In These Streets."  A read aloud of the progress to date was held during July. Look to their upcoming final performance, to be held in September in Auburn Gresham. You won't want to miss Act. One!

MAYOR EMANUEL, POLICE AND COMMUNITIES CELEBRATE 30TH ANNUAL “NATIONAL NIGHT OUT” AGAINST CRIME. Events Planned in Every Police District to Build Relationships, Strengthen Communities. Celebrate at an event near you: 3rd (Grand Crossing) District: Meyering Park, 7140 S. King Dr. from 5-7 pm. Events include a safety equipment giveaway and other informational resources;  6th (Gresham) District: March for Peace. From 1210 W. 78th Street, step-off at 5:30, march to 6th District Police Sation, 7808 S.
