TIME SENSITIVE: City creates grants to help residents with rent, mortgage payments

TIME SENSITIVE!!!

MUST APPLY BY APRIL 1st

On Friday, March 27, 2020 Mayor Lightfoot announced that the City will be providing COVID-19 Housing Assistance Grants to people who have either lost their jobs or had their hours/income reduced because of the COVID-19 coronavirus..

The City's Department of Housing has allocated $2 Million for these Grants. Households whose gross income was at or below 60% of the Area Median Income before the reduction in income are eligible to apply.
 
Applications are online at Housing Assistance Grants  Grants will be $1,000.  Applications will be taken only until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, April 1.  On Thursday, the Department of Housing will hold a lottery drawing to select the first 1000 Grant recipients.

Application window: Friday, March 27th at 9:00am to Wednesday, April 1st and 11:59pm.

Selection process: All applicants will be entered into a lottery. Applicants can expect to hear back from the Department of Housing regarding their application in the days following the close of the application.
