Healthcare Coverage Deadline for Small Business Owners - December 15th
Published: December 6, 2017
Please be aware that self-employed entrepreneurs and small business owners with employees who are covered by, or eligible for, a plan from the ACA Marketplace must enroll in a marketplace plan between November 1 and December 15, 2017 to have coverage in 2018.
Small business owners and self-employed workers are nearly three times more likely to purchase marketplace coverage. Unlike the last four years, the new deadline is December 15, 2017, and there will be no extensions. Ignore the headlines -- the Affordable Care Act is still the law and 80% of people with marketplace plans get premium discounts and can still shop for a new plan.
For free enrollment assistance by certified assisters, visit www.ilcha.org/help by December 15, 2017. We have been advised that the government will be shutting down their marketplace website on Sundays during the enrollment period, so please plan accordingly. Please spread the word in your neighborhoods and send this important reminder to your NBDC lists.
