World War II Veterans Still Our Local Heroes

Jack Lyle, a local veteran, fought in WWII in Italy. In spite of all his life experiences, that came during and as a result of war, this is important to him. Even as important to him, is sailing. He and his wife Eunice, of 34 years, are longstanding proud Auburn Gresham residents.
In an interview with Jack, in his home a few years ago, I remember how Jack, told us stories he remembered about the war. He gave us a picture of his plane, called “Natalie", which had three swastikas on it, one for each Nazi plane it had shot down. In hindsight, this proved to be very emotional still for Mr. Lyle.
Mr. Jack Lyle is also a member of the Tuskegee Airman. He and the group were given a Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress, by former President George W. Bush in 2007.
We salute Mr. Lyle and all the local Veterans, who have so courageously fought, for our freedom and continue to make us proud, in local communities throughout the south side and the city of Chicago.
P.S. Happy Birthday Jack Lyle, Saturday, November 7, 2015, 95 years!!
Take a moment to read the Chicago Lodge 7, Fraternal Order of Police's, very well written cover story article, "Heroes Among Us, which includes footage on our very own Jack Lyle.
