State Senator Jacqueline Collins Reads to Auburn Gresham GOLD Campers Jazmyne Walker
To kiick off the week, at Auburn Gresham GOLD Summer Camp's Monday morning literacy session, State Senator Jacqueline Collins gave more service to the community, as part of the Auburn Gresham GOLD School summer reads, community leader storytime series.
Senator Jacqueline Collins of the 16th District came out to support this summer’s activities, by volunteering to read to the students of Auburn Gresham GOLD Summer Camp, held at Oglesby Elementary School, 7636 South Green Street, one of five schools participating in the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporations, Auburn Gresham GOLD Education Initiative.
Senator Collins came dressed in character, a long blue gown with a traditional African-inspired pattern and read the story “Marvelous Me: Inside and Out” by Lisa Bullard, with illustrations by Brandon Reibeling. The book was vibrant and colorful. It tols an uplifiting story, about a superhero named "Marvelous Me," who was capable of doing anything he wanted!

Senator Collins told her infamous knock-knock jokes with the children and even strut her “stuff” to the camp’s story time theme song also called, “Strut Your Stuff”. All the young summer campers were very excited to start Monday morning with story, song and the Senator. They all happily danced along with her and participated in taking a group photo with children and staff of the camp. It was a great and fun way for campers to start their week and get to know a local government official. Big kudos and thanks to Senator Jacqueline Collins for making our day!
