Red-Lights Gone Out On 79th Street

Today, October 10th, the mechanism to trigger the Red Light camera on 79th and Racine was deactivated. This major intersection, in the heart of Auburn Gresham made the list of intersections selected as one of the 18 intersections to be deactived. The main reason for instituting the red lights in the first place was safefy around running red lights.  There was however an  ancillary benefit for the city, generating a significantextra of amount of revenue.

Some of the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GADC) staff members had mixed feelings about the deactivation. However, all were pleased that once again the City of Chicago kept it's promise to the neighborhoods.
