On Friday, April 12th, a parade of characters hit the streets of Auburn Gresham. It was a celebration to promote reading literacy, by one local Auburn Gresham Gold school, Oliver S. Westcott Elementary, located at 409 W. 80th Street. The book parade had full participation of school leaderhip, teachers, the entire school of elementary students, parent volunteers and community partners, all dressed in a literary character from their favorite book. Participation was also highlighted by classrooms picking one book for their parade theme. Who wouldn't love Goldilocks and a classroom of little bears! As Westcott Elementary walked the streets of Auburn Gresham to promote reading, they sang this vibrate book parade chant:
...reading is fun
...reading is cool
...pick-up a book
...and stay in school
Westcott School is committed to challenging our students by setting high expectations that will result in our students becoming lifelong learners. We are raising the standards of excellence: Every Child. Every Chance, Every Day.
Can you name these literary characters from the Westcott Elementary Book Parade?
