A Historic Perspective on Auburn Gresham

Civic and community leaders Alderman Latasha Thomas (D-17), former Alderman Terry Peterson (D-17), and Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church share their experiences about the once blighted community Auburn Gresham.

Elizabeth Riley, a Northwestern University Medill graduate student interviewed these historic leaders about the most important aspects that gave rise to Auburn Gresham then and now.

Also highlighted in this discussion is the efforts of Chicago native and long-time Auburn Gresham resident, Betty Swanson who literally organized her residental block from one of the worst in Chicago to the best in the country.
