Good Afternoon today, February 1, 2022 marks the first day of  Black History Month!

To start the month off, Anthony would like to begin with this black history fact:
The GAP band is a renowned group from Tulsa Oklahoma. On May 31 and June 1, 1921, America experienced one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history, the Tulsa race massacre.  The Tulsa race massacre started when mobs of white residents, some of whom had been deputized and given weapons by city officials, attacked Black residents and destroyed homes and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The attackers burned and destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the neighborhood – at the time one of the wealthiest Black communities in the United States, known as "Black Wall Street".  Black Wall Street was an black epicenter full of doctors, lawyers, and many, many thriving,  bustling businesses.

The GAP Band, created their band to not only represent their towns history, but to not let it be forgotten. G.A.P. Stands for the three streets that made up the Black Wall Street, Greenwood. Archer. Pine and their hit song, "You Dropped a Bomb On Me Baby" spoke on the events.
