GAGDC hosted its Annual Business Forum on Tuesday, June 8th and had a wonderful turnout. This year's business forum was offered via ZOOM platform and open to the public. Thank you to all those who attended! This Business Forum created an opportunity to hear directly from those who manage the many wonderful programs and services that have kept so many Chicagoans a float this year and last, and also those who struggled through mandated closures, civil unrest, and the pandemic.
Our panel of City and State staff, national groups, and community stakeholders gracefully explained the latest grants, loans, projects, developments, and services being offered both on the southside of Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area. Attendees were able to hear from and converse with the Cook County Assessor regarding commercial and residential property taxes for the present and future.
Guest speakers explained the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan, Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF), & Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) grants as well as many other grants and services. Participants got to hear from one of the 10 new business owners who have open stores in the mighty Auburn Gresham Community. Special Service Areas #32 and Special Service Area 69, were discussed along with the free services provided by our Neighborhbood Business Development Center and the many grants they provide to the community.
GAGDC used this as an opportunity to give an update of the multi-million dollar developments that are going on along the 79th Street corridor.
