To commemorate 2007, we would like to share some of our community's most precious moments with you. These unprecedented moments were countless to name them all. However, we have tried our best to capture, "Chicago's Best Kept Secret," through pictures. Enjoy and thanks again!
January: Local residents were among first to receive free tax services at the Auburn Gresham’s free tax clinic. Services were offered in partnership with the Center for Economic Progress and St. Sabina Employment Resource Center.

February: Mayor Richard Daley joined Alderman Latasha Thomas (D-17), City Treasurer-Stephanie Neely, City Clerk-Miguel Del Valle, Cleanslate Interns and a host of other dignitaries and local residents at BJ’s Market & Bakery.

March: Nearly 50 local residents, Perspectives Charter Schools (PCS) teachers, parents, students, and civic & community leaders attended GADC’s first planning session for the Integrated Services in School (ISS) project, including plans for a school-based health clinic at PCS.

April: Mayor Daley joined Chicago Police Department’s Dana Starks, a concerned resident, Senator Jacqueline Collins, Father Pfleger of St. Sabina Church, and Alderman Howard Brookins (D-21) in a march to protest violence in the City of Chicago.

May: Alderman Latasha Thomas, Jonathan Fanton (MacArthur Foundation), Carlos Nelson (GADC), Andy Mooney (LISC), Mayor Daley and Father Pfleger pose for a photo after Fanton commits $26 million to 14 New Communities Program (NCP) Lead Agencies in Chicago.

June: The Auburn Gresham School Team revealed the proposed ISS Executive Summary for middle school reform in Auburn Gresham in conjunction with GADC, Perspectives Charter Schools, ACCESS Community Health Network, and the University of Chicago. July: Lagniappe, an Auburn Gresham restaurant and caterer, participated for a 2nd time, in the 27th Annual Taste of Chicago, the Midwest’s largest food festival. Lagniappe impressed festival-goers with their Creole Cajun-style selections. The crowd’s favorite was the beignets.

August: Saint Turner and Linda Johnson of GADC joined former GADC’er Nicole Jones (center) and Tommy the IDOT Turtle at Ice Theater's 4th Annual Community at 87th & Dan Ryan to promote community/city-wide resources. This event was free and open to the public.

September: Carlos Nelson, GADC Executive Director (center), joins the ladies of GADC at the 2nd Annual 79th Street Festival. The ladies include: Cheryl Johnson (NCP Director), Saint Turner (Administrative. Assistant) , Kim Cox (Consultant), and Linda Johnson (Business & Project Manager). See you next year 9/6/08!

October: Tim McCormick, Kimberly Duchossois, Dayle Duchossois Fortino, Ald. Sharon Denise Dixon, Senator Jacqueline Collins, Alderman Latasha Thomas, Lynn Kiley, Mayor Daley, and Ted Weldon joined in a ribbon cutting ceremony at SOS Children’s Village.

November: GADC, GRANDFamilies: Generations Creating a Legacy, the City of Chicago Department of Aging, and Granville Love of Team Construction, partnered to install new windows in Alma Donald’s home—a senior and Englewood resident.

December: Hubert Newkirk the Litter Free Zone Coordinator for GADC works hand in hand with Oglesby Elementary School Student Ambassadors to encourage them to stop the trash talking on the streets of Auburn Gresham and Englewood.
