Count Down to 8th Annual 79th Street Renaissance Festival and Family Jam for Peace

The 79th Street Renaissance Festival and Family Jam for Peace is a free, open, community festival with something for everyone. If you are on a tight budget, but still want to treat your family to wonderful, cultural events this summer - this event is for you.

The Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC), under the leadership of Carlos A. Nelson, announces his GAGDC and festival staff have planned an amazing 8th Annual 79th Street Renaissance Festival, right in the heart of the Auburn Gresham Community. The Festival Crew Chiefs are putting the final touches on the planning and are counting down to the festival (see photos).

We will showcase local and national acts on the main stage, have a free luncheon for seniors in their own special area, showcase local 79th street food vendors, have an amateur basketball tournament and championship, and have a huge kids corner complete with clowns, bounce houses, petting zoo, new this year kids computer gaming station and the return of the Ferris Wheel!

Resources for families include health screenings, educational and employment opportunities. Lots of good buys from local retailers include, jewelry, shoes and clothing, plus handmade items sold at very reasonable prices. There will be a great selection of tasty and healthy food vendors and Local restaurants. This year we will offer a newly designed commemorative 79th Street Ren Fest and Peace Jam commemorative t-shirt. You won't want to miss getting this Admission is free. We welcome you to Auburn Gresham - one of Chicago's official 77 neighborhoods and believe the hype, it definitely one of the City's best kept secrets!
