Gallery 79 Features Oglesby School in Art Exhibit

A public CPS Elementary Art Exhibit showcased student's artwork from southwest side Englewood-Gresham, Pershing and Midway Networks, on May 3, 2013. Several bus loads of Oglesby Elementary youth, parents, local residents and curious art lovers, participated in this early evening of art on display. The Gallery Seven-Nine Co. owners, Antwon and Davida McGruder and gallery director, Siobhan McKissic, were the perfect hosts.

The evening was filled with kid friendly, healthy food and snacks, music, arts & craft table, and lots of festive colors. There was even a wall where the students to could post-it thoughts about the exhibit and it's impact on their communities of Auburn Gresham, Ashburn, Chicago Lawn and others.

The student art exhibit runs through May 31st. Gallery 79 is located at 2449 West 79th Street. Call 773.306.1287 to make an appointment to visit the gallery and support our youth in their art making! I promise you will not be disappointed.

Please enjoy the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation's (GADC) slideshow (coming!). We've prepared a visual look at the magnificent art created primarily by the Oglesby Elementary School students. We wholeheartedly support Principal Rolland Jasper, Assistant Principal Dr. Ranada Johnson, the amazing Oglesby art teacher, continuing to improve academics, health and school-based art enrichment outcomes!

Gallery 79 is another welcome local venue, available for community and private event rentals. Carlos A. Nelson, executive director of the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation, along with his staff and Education team supporting programming at Olgesby Elementary, send huge kudos to the McGruder’s for producing this welcoming gem, and supporting the arts across the Englewoo-Gresham school network.
